Ambassadors - Our Chamber Ambassadors are key in recruiting new chamber members and mentoring them to ensure they are making the most of their Chamber membership. They function as the hospitality arm of the Chamber, helping members feel welcomed, connected, and informed. The Ambassadors meet on the third Thursday of each month, at 11am for business visits, and then from 12-1pm for their monthly meeting. They play a key role in planning the Annual Golf Outing, and year-end Christmas Social. Ambassadors also attend ribbon cuttings, business after hours, ground breakings, open houses, and other community events. To join the Ambassadors there is a simple application to complete and a yearly fee of $110 to cover the cost of lunches for the year. This is a great way to introduce employees to the Chamber and start molding their leadership skills. It also can be an introduction to building important business relationships as they will meet and chat with many local business owners and managers.
Networking Breakfasts and Lunches - These networking events are held on the second Thursday of each month. The program features business relevant topics, chamber updates, and a chance to network with fellow chamber members. Members have the opportunity to sponsor and host these events. The sponsorship opportunities offer a great way to showcase your business.
Open House, Ribbon Cuttings, and Business After Hours - These events allow members to showcase their business or organization and provide an opportunity for chamber members to network as well as celebrate special occasions such as; anniversaries, new business openings, and business expansions.
Fourth of July Parade and Celebration - This event is one of Newton’s largest community celebrations and the Chamber’s largest volunteer opportunity. Committee members are needed to plan and stage the parade and entries, as well as assist with the downtown vendors, publicity, and clean up. This is a great opportunity to gain experience with event planning and teamwork! Businesses also have sponsorship opportunities.
New Teacher’s Luncheon - The New Teacher Luncheon is held annually to celebrate and welcome our new educators and administration to the Newton Community School District and the Newton Christian School. This event provides an important connection between our business community and our teachers. It is an ideal opportunity to show your support for our new teachers. You will be able to meet and network with our new educators, possibly gaining a new client or colleague.
Lighted Holiday Parade and Courthouse Lighting - This event, which features a lighted parade, is held annually on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The event follows the Annual Jasper County Courthouse Lighting and is a community favorite. The committee is responsible for recruiting parade entries, finding sponsors, and helping to stage the event.
