New Teacher Welcome Luncheon

The Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce hosts our "New Teachers Luncheon" every year to welcome new school teachers to the Newton Community. Our partnership with the Newton School District is one that we like to celebrate. The luncheon is a great opportunity for our local businesses to introduce themselves to the new teachers, and with their sponsorships they are also able to speak during the luncheon as well as leave some branded merchandise for each educator. We also have time for some fun networking and, of course, a great lunch! The Newton Chamber appreciates our amazing educators and this event gives us the opportunity to thank them and show them all of the great amenities in our community as well as introduce them to a handful of the great business owners in our community.

Newton will be hosting Ragbrai on July 25 this summer!  We will be welcoming close to 20,000 riders to our community.  Bicyclists who travel on Ragbrai come from all over the world.  Check out the Newton Ragbrai website for all information, and you can also find forms on there if you would like to volunteer or host riders!  You can buy t-shirts right now at the Newton Hy-Vee or Chamber office for $15.  All proceeds go to Newton Ragbrai committee and help us provide an amazing day and night for our community and the riders staying with us!  We have also announced our list of entertainment for the day and night!  There is a little something for everybody with our entertainment ranging from a Beatles tribute band, to an Elton John and Billy Joel cover duo, to our fun and entertaining "Silent Disco"!  We will headline our evening with the official Jimmy Buffet cover band, A1A - if you are a "parrot head" you will really enjoy our main act!  All entertainment is family friendly and lots of fun!  Make sure to check out the Newton Ragbrai website for the full line-up.

Whether you’re raising a family, starting a business or building a home — you’ll want to get to know Newton. Established in 1846 and incorporated as a city in 1857, Newton is the county seat of Jasper County and the largest city in the county. Newton focuses on providing a safe community with a high quality of life, engaged residents, and a strong business community. The city’s vision statement is “Newton Shines Bright: Newton is a progressive, family friendly community, a shining star of Central Iowa, and a place to call home."
