Inaugural Purses With Purpose Join the Iowa Speedway Foundation's Inaugural "Purses With Purpose" Live & Silent Auction featuring new & gently used purses/bags for men and women at the Iowa Speedway's Newton Club, 3333 Rusty Wallace Drive. Light hors d'oeuvres & desserts will be served and the dueling pianos of Andy Anderson and Mike Leeds will be the entertainment. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Iowa Speedway ticket office or call 866-rusty-go or at the door. A potion of the proceeds will benefit Haven of Hope.

Newton Health Care Canned Food Drive The Newton Health Care Center, 200 S 8th Ave E, is holding a Canned Food Drive from now until February 23rd to coincide with "Canned Foods Month". Any canned food items, such as soups or fruit and unopened boxed items will be accepted. All items donated will be given to the Newton Salvation Army's Food Pantry.

Ski & Snowshoe Spend an afternoon cross-country skiing and snowshoeing this winter at Jacob Krumm. The JCCB will once again provide a limited amount of equipment (or bring your own) for these events. There is a fee to participate and you must pre-register at the JCCB office located at 115 N 2nd Ave E. If there is no snow cover, the program will be cancelled and your money refunded.

Hunter Education Course Pre-Registration begins January 27th online at www.iowadnr.gov/training for the Hunter Education Course at the Izaak Walton League Clubhouse. Students must attend all three sessions to receive certification. Sessions will be held on 2/28 from 6:00-9:30pm, 3/2 from 6:00-9:30pm and 3/3 from 8:00am - 12:00pm. Workbooks for the class can be picked up at the JCCB office, 115 N 2nd Ave E. There is no fee and all materials will be provided.
